We LOVE Volunteers!

Please consider volunteering, we can really use your help and it’s a great way to meet other tribal members and it’s a lot of fun - really! Our regular gatherings and events are listed below. Times are approximate and will be announced several weeks before the event.

If you are a non-Tribal Member that wants to volunteer please email the Tribal Office and we will send you information on a case by case basis.

Winter Gathering - - - - - - - -
Winter Gathering is held on the Third Saturday of January at the Plankhouse (map) at the Wildlife Refuge in Ridgefield, WA. Winter Gathering generally begins around noon and is over before dark.

The meal is pot-luck. The Tribe supplies coffee and tea Also supplied are plates, napkins, forks, spoons, etc.

We need help with set-up, check-in, setting up the meal, and especially clean up as it gets dark early in January. This is a great opportunity for volunteering in you are in the Vancouver/Portland area or on the I5 corridor.

Story Gathering - - - - - - - -
Story Gathering is held on the Second Saturday of March, immediately following the Council meeting, around noon. Unless otherwise noted Story Gathering takes place at Chinook Point (map) in Chinook, WA.

The meal is pot-luck. The Tribe supplies coffee and tea Also supplied are plates, napkins, forks, spoons, etc.

We need help with setting up the meal, and clean up.

First Salmon Ceremony - - - - - - - -
Our First Salmon Ceremony is always the Friday before the Annual Meeting (third Saturday of June) at Chinook Point (map) in Chinook, WA. This ceremony's time is dependent on the tides.

The meal is pot-luck. The Tribe supplies salmon, coffee, tea and punch. Also supplied are plates, napkins, forks, spoons, etc.

We need help with set-up, check-in, fish cooks, fry bread cooking, setting up the meal, and especially clean up.

Annual Meeting- - - - - - - -

The Annual Meeting is held on the Third Saturday of June, place to be announced. Registration begins at 9:00 a.m. with the meeting starting at 11:00 a.m.

We need volunteers before and after the meeting to help set-up and take down tables and chairs. We need kitchen volunteers* and people to help clean-up. We also need volunteers to sign members in at the door, work at sales tables and help out with the silent auction and raffle.

The meal is pot-luck. The Tribe supplies coffee, tea and punch. Also supplied are plates, napkins, forks, spoons, etc.

* This is the perfect time for teens and spouses to volunteer, so tribal members of voting age (18) can attend the meeting.

Pacific County Fair- - - - - - - -

We will be selling Salmon Dinners at the Pacific County Fair as a fundraiser and we will need many volunteers. This is the perfect opportunity for Alvina Frisbie Scholarship Recipients to fulfill their 20 hour volunteer obligation.

Summer Gathering- - - - - - - -

Regularly scheduled for the 3rd weekend in August

Also known as Paddle to Georgetown/Paddle to Bay Center. We keep the traditional water highway open between Bay Center and Georgetown by traveling across the bay and sharing a meal, songs and dances in late Summer.

We alternate every year. Either we travel from Bay Center and are hosted at Shoalwater Bay or our friends and family from Shoalwater travel to Bay Center and we host them at Bush County Park in Bay Center.

The meals are pot-luck. The Tribe supplies coffee, tea and punch. Also supplied are plates, napkins, forks, spoons, etc.

Annual Salmon Dinner at the Ilwaco Museum

On a Saturday in early November we host a Salmon Dinner fundraiser at the Columbia Pacific Heritage Museum in Ilwaco, WA (map). The in dinner includes salmon, oysters, salad, fry bread, dessert and beverages.

We need volunteers to help prep and cook dinner, serve dinners and clean-up. We also need volunteers for dinner ticket sales, T-shirt sale table and to help with the silent auction.

Fish Prep - - - - - - - -

Whenever we have an event and we are providing fish we need a crew to help fillet the fish. We generally do this the the week of the event. Please contact the Tribal Office for more information.
